The life of The Girl Shelby

The weekend was good. I’m going to document it now before I get too busy.

I did get my jewellery from colleague Pussy Paradise on Thursday, which was very exciting. It’s really lovely and of course I had to wear it straight away. However, I am paranoid about losing it as it was expensive so whenever I’ve got it on I have to keep checking it’s still there. I have had the bill in now and Pussy Paradise saved me over £50 from buying the jewellery in the UK. It’s a good job too as I have been spending like a demon recently.

Friday night got off to a good start when the Head of Customer Services, Marketing and Commissions Finance left just after 4pm. 20 minutes later I was out the door after him which meant unusually I was home for 5pm. Friend Jennifer Jackme came to mine straight from work and once we had changed we headed straight out to the Leisure Park. We walked down so we could have a couple of drinks, but unfortunately Jennifer Jackme had underestimated how much it was raining and convinced me not take an umbrella. Needless to say we were more than a little damp when we arrived. Luckily the restaurant serves drowned rates and we settled down to cocktails and to try out for a couple of hours. After a very tasty dinner we made the short sprint through the rain to the cinema where we watched 50 First Dates. The film was OK, very sweet but nothing really special. However, on a damp Friday night after a week at work it was entertaining enough.

As Jennifer Jackme stayed overnight we headed into town shopping with my sister on Saturday. I finally ordered my bridesmaid dress for friend Tiffani Holiday’s wedding, which was a complete nightmare as I got the right dress ordered in the right colour and in the right size. However, I totally forgot to order a wrap to go round my shoulders. After calling and leaving a message at the shop which wasn’t returned I had to sprint back down to town just before the shop closed so I could catch them before the order went in. Having made such a heroic effort, they then told me that they weren’t sure if I could get a wrap to go with my dress. I find out tomorrow if I will be sitting freezing my arse off in a strapless dress in October with no protection from the elements.

Shopping with my sister is always a bad idea as she leads me astray. I ended up buying more clothes and shoes for my holiday. When I got home, I looked at my holiday clothes and I’ve got enough to go for a month. Now I have to make the horrible decision of what not to take!

Yesterday I didn’t do much as by the time I’d gone to the gym, gone shopping and been to visit the still poorly Mummy it was late afternoon.

Today I’ve got pretty much continuous meetings all day, so I’d better start some preparation for them.

I've just been reading friend Pimp Daddy Rothschild's blog and it reminded me to make a posting of some description into mine. The top secret project started again yesterday so I may not be able to post again in the foreseeable future. Especially as I now have only 10 days at work before I go on holiday. I'm hoping my hotel has some kind of internet connection so I can update whilst I'm away. However, if I get my way (as opposed to the parent and grandparent who I am travelling with's way) I will be doing nothing except lying by the pool. Which won't give me much to write about.

The exciting news today is that colleague Pussy Paradise is back from her trip to San Francisco, laden down with Tiffany & Co jewellery for me. I can't wait to see it, but I think it's a bit too early to go down. I really should give her a chance to get logged into the system before I start harassing her!

I started writing this yesterday after I was cruelly thrown back in the deep end after the long weekend with a 2 hour meeting. As well as making me think about work it burst my little happy bubble which the weekend created, but more about that later.

Picking up from my last post, I got to see colleague Chloe Bounce and finally meet Baby Bounce who was very cute. However, Chloe and Slick Bounce must have developed biceps of steel as my arm was aching after holding the baby for so long. Either that, or I am just a big wuss. I like other people’s babies as I get all of the fun of cuddling and playing with them, but I don’t have to deal with them being sick or have to change nappies. I do also think it will be a long time before I have any of my own. It’s going to take that long for me to forget the gory details of Baby Bounce’s birth which Chloe Bounce so kindly shared with me. From not having seen mother and baby for weeks, I then ended up seeing them again on Friday lunchtime. However, I think it was good got my time in now as I won’t be going round again for a few weeks. My Mum has got shingles and I don’t want to risk giving the baby chickenpox.

My Mum has been quite sick recently and has had to go to the hospital as she has a rare form of shingles which affects the face and eyes. Always one to martyr herself she is getting a lot of conversational mileage out of the fact that not many people get shingles in this form. It does look really nasty and I’m sure she is in pain, but if I have to spend anymore time listening to her go on about how’s it’s affecting her face rather than the body (as with most people) I may have to kill her. At least it will put her out of her misery.

On Saturday night I went with colleague Pussy Might to see Duran Duran at Wembley arena. It has to be the best concert I have ever been to. Duran Duran were utterly fantastic and they were supported by the Scissor Sisters who I also really like. My only complaint about the Scissor Sisters was that they weren’t as camp as I was expecting. Other than that, they put on a good show which warmed me up nicely for the main event. As soon as Duran Duran arrived I completely lost my self possession and I started screaming like a teenager much to the amusement of the little girl I was sitting next to. Over the next couple of hours I sang and screamed myself hoarse to old favourites like Rio, The Reflex, Wild Boys and Girls on Film. I also managed an impressive degree of excitement for their new stuff which I really liked - so much so that I may go and buy the album. I regressed about 15 years over the course of the evening and even now I still haven’t regained all of my senses as I want to marry John Taylor when I grow up…

On Sunday, I went shopping with friend Kinky Malibu. I didn’t actually want to buy anything, but somehow I came home with clothes, CDs and videos. I got a strapless top which is now a necessity for my holiday in a couple of weeks as when I sat out in the sun a couple of weekends ago I caught the sun and I now have attractive t shirt tan lines. I have to even my skin colour out over the next few months as otherwise when I am friend Tiffani Holiday’s bridesmaid in October I will look like I am wearing a t-shirt under my strapless dress. The exciting news is that I’m going to order the dress at the weekend and all my dieting and gym efforts haven’t been in vain as I have lost 3 stone. I still want to lose more, but if that didn’t happen I think I’d still be happy with what I’ve achieved.

On Monday I had arranged to see friend Jennifer Jackme. We were supposed to go to the cinema, but as it was raining we ended up staying in watching videos. Not quite the afternoon out that I’d envisaged, but fun nevertheless. We are now going to the cinema on Friday night to make up for our lost visit on Monday. This helps me fill the hole I currently have in my social life as friend Bonnie Sin is currently in Chile.

Until next time!
