The life of The Girl Shelby

Wednesday, June 22, 2005

It's been a long time since I posted. Work has swamped me for the last couple of months to the extent I have been working at weekends. Needless to say I have no time for blogging at work and my home computer is still dead (although friend Bonnie Sin has finally got round to looking at it. She's just like the NHS with a 6 month waiting list to be seen) Anyway, whenever I get any free time I like to see to my friends, not write about my life for virtual friends.

Anyway, in the last 6 weeks I have hurt my ankle and so didn't do the race for life, been teambuilding with work, gone skidpan driving, got a recognition award at work, started playing the guitar again, spent lots of time with my friends, formed an inappropriate crush on a bloke I work with and got my car through it's first MOT!

I've been passed the musical baton from friend Pimp Daddy Rothschild. Never one to knowingly disappoint here are the results from the Hatfield jury

Total volume of music files on my computer?
No idea as I haven't used my computer since January. Is lots too unspecific?

The last CD I bought was?
Difficult to remember as I don't think I've brought any music for a while. I'm pretty sure the last time I brought any music I got Franz Ferdinand and The best of Supergrass.

Song playing right now?
Nothing as I'm at work, but when I get in the car I will hear one of my own compilation CDs. I can't remember what song I'm up to, but it features cheesy music which will cheer me up immensely

Five songs I listen to a lot/mean a lot to me?
Isn't she lovely - Stevie Wonder
Apparently my Dad used to play this for me when I was a baby so whenever I hear it now I think of him
How soon is now - The Smiths
A strange choice for me, but I always listen to it when I'm unhappy. It doesn't make me feel better as such, but it echoes how I feel.
You're so vain - Carly Simon
I like the mystery behind this song as she's never revealed who it was about. It's also my favourite karaoke song
Fastlove - George Michael
My list would be incomplete without one George Michael song. I've loved this song since I first heard it in my first year at university
Nice – Duran Duran
It’s a recent favourite as has come from their latest album and probably has only made the list due to my current inappropriate crush. Sample lyric “And it hurts me to think that you might never know / that I got this thing about you” However, dodgy crushes aside, whenever I listen to Duran Duran it reminds me of when I went to see them at Wembley last year, which was the best concert I’d ever been to.

That will do for now. Expect the next posting at some stage later in the summer!
