The life of The Girl Shelby

I get it now - my blog is number 897. Maybe I'll leave it then - I'd hate to upset the owner of blog number 510!

Don't get too excited - 2 postings in as many days. There were a couple of things that I forgot to mention yesterday. I have changed my colour scheme - I thought it was time for a change, but if anyone can tell me what the random numbers are on the top of the page are I'd appreciate it. I've looked through the template for them without success as I want to change them to 510. If you can't work out the significance of those numbers then don't be surprised if I forget your birthday in future.

Recent purchase news - a Griffin itrip. I can't recommend this enough for your ipod - it means you can listen to it anywhere through a radio. I already have an ipod speaker set (I can't remember if I mentioned that my old colleagues brought me one as a leaving present and that was without me having to tell them that ipod accessories were top of my wish list) so now my itrip means that I can listen to my ipod in my car. The only difficulty is finding a frequency to set the itrip to. On long journeys you may have to change the frequency mid way as you suddenly pick up a pirate drum n bass station as I did on Saturday night on the drive to Northampton.

Last week was another long one so as a result I spent most of the weekend sleeping and watching DVDs. I did go out for my Aunt’s 50th birthday party on Saturday night which was good fun. I didn’t get to bed until 2am – despite her advanced age she still knows how to party!

This week is shaping up to be a strange one. After working so hard and for the past couple of weeks, I’m now scratching around looking for work. It’s only temporary as I have lots of things that are in progress and I’m waiting for the next steps. Inevitably, they are all going to come back at the same time and I’ll be busy again.

I make no apologies for not posting as I have done a ridiculous number of hours at work recently. In addition to spending 50 quality hours in the office last week, I managed to rack up a further day's work at home over the weekend. Tonight I'm tired but I'm stuck here for another couple of hours as I'm interviewing at 7pm. I just hope this bloke is good so I feel like it was worth giving up my evening to see him.

The day I didn't work at the weekend was a good one. I saw friend Debbie Dicks who has spent the last 6 months travelling in south east Asia. It sounds like she had a phenomenal time and made friend Bonnie Sin and I jealous with her pictures of beautiful Thai beaches. In the afternoon I saw an old work colleague (I can't remember her porn name and my handy porn name to real name dictionary is on my computer at home) We headed up for a walk and a chat on Dunstable Downs before heading into Luton to go to the cinema. We saw Ice Age 2 which I loved. I don't know if that is the general opinion of the film as there were only 2 other people in the cinema with us. However, the 4 of us found it very amusing.

I can't think of anything else. All I'm doing at the minute is working and sleeping. Hopefully, I will be allowed to resume my social life soon.

The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed that I managed to post the same entry several times last week. This was because I didn't think that the first entry had posted properly due to it taking an inordinate amount of time to publish. I have now deleted the duplicate entries and am replacing it with this update. I've had a lovely weekend. On Saturday I met up with friend Deedee Lustley in Regents Park and we spent the day wandering round the park. I did have an inclination to go to London Zoo as I've never been (Whipsnade was bigger and nearer so we always went there) but the inclination did not stretch as far as the £14.50 entrance charge. Instead we hired a boat and went out on the boating lake, which the funniest thing that you’ve ever seen. We spent the first 10 minutes going round in circles before getting our act together to do a tour around the island in the middle of the lake. There were a few near misses with other boats and several unintentional attempts to get back to dry land (thankfully it was a purpose built boating lake so did not have sloping edges for us to run aground on) Our steering left a lot to be desired as it took several attempts to get back to the dock. I do now think that Deedee Lustley was a slave driver in a previous life as she was very enthusiastic about telling me when to heave…

Yesterday I had a family thing as my Mum invited her aunt and cousins over, as well as my aunt and cousins. My Mum’s relations are really good fun and we always like seeing them. I would say more, but the family relationships get too confusing for me to give details of the day. If two cousins both have children, what is the relationship between those children?
